The city of Seattle has extended the eviction moratorium through June 30th. This means that property owners cannot start any eviction process unless there is an imminent threat to the community at large. Late fees and interest are also prohibited. Still, renters are legally obligated to pay any back rent, and landlords are advised to allow payments over time.
Washington State has a moratorium on evictions through March 31st. There hasn’t been an announcement on an extension as of yet, but we are monitoring the situation closely.
The city of Seattle anticipates receiving 23 million to go towards rental assistance as part of the American Rescue Plan signed into law by President Joe Biden last week. This amount will be added to the $18 million the city has previously pledged for landlords and tenants.
