Seattle City Council Passes New Law Regarding Winter Evictions

This week, the Seattle City Council voted to prevent landlords from evicting tenants for three months during the winter (Dec. 1 to March 1).  However, they did limit this new rule to low and moderate-income tenants and exempted landlords that own four or fewer housing units.

Currently, the Mayor’s office is not supporting such legislation and it’s likely that legal challenges will be launched against the measure in the future.  Sound Point Property Management will be monitoring the status of these changes and sharing what we learn here on our blog.

While this is meant to prevent people from being put on the streets during our coldest weather, laws like this can be overwhelming to deal with for anyone that manages a rental property in Seattle.

If you are one of those people and would like some assistance with your rental property, please contact us at Sound Point Property Management today.   We can take the stress of dealing with rules and regulations the city of Seattle passes now and in the future.
